The Department of English has witnessed a steady and encouraging trend in student admissions over the last five academic years. In 2021 and 2022, against a sanctioned intake of 97 seats, the department admitted 78 students each year. Admissions increased to 84 students in 2023, reflecting a growing interest in the programme. A significant rise was observed in 2024 when the sanctioned strength was expanded to 178 seats and total admissions reached 125 students. In 2025, the department admitted 108 students out of the 178 sanctioned seats, demonstrating sustained demand despite the increased intake capacity. Throughout these years, female students consistently outnumbered male students, highlighting the department's strong appeal among women learners. Overall, the admission data reflects the Department of English's growing popularity, academic reputation, and continued ability to attract a diverse and committed student community.

Student's Result

The academic performance of the undergraduate students in the Department of English reflects a consistent commitment to quality education and student success. In 2021 and 2022, the department achieved an outstanding 100% pass rate, with all 51 and 67 admitted students respectively qualifying successfully. In 2023, 57 out of 64 students qualified, resulting in an impressive 89.1% success rate. Although the pass percentage declined to 68% in 2024, with 53 out of 78 students qualifying, the department recorded an improvement in 2025, when 50 out of 68 students successfully completed the programme, achieving a 73.5% pass rate. These results demonstrate the department's sustained emphasis on academic excellence, effective teaching-learning practices, and continuous efforts to enhance student performance despite variations in examination outcomes.
