About the Department
The Department of Music Netaji Mahavidyalaya made its beginning in the year 20__ and offers Honours course to the students. Under the New Education Policy (NEP) as adopted by the University of Burdwan in 2020-21 any student can opt Music as a Major as well as Minor paper. In 20__ the department started its journey with a handful of students, and today it is proud of nurturing as good as _ students. The department has 04 experienced faculty who raise young UG-level students with utmost dedication and make them deserving candidates for future competition. Studying Music opens up scope in multidimensional aspects viz. academia and research, stage performance and performances in different media like television and radio and even in the larger wing of music composition in the celluloid industry etc.

The mission of the Department of Music is firmly rooted in the belief that music is an innate artistic expression of all humanity. The goals of the Department are accomplished through the training of music educators and the offering of general music instruction to the college at large.
The Department of Music is committed to:
- Educating a culturally and economically diverse student body, with sensitivity to the musical backgrounds of all students;
- Training music educators at the primary and secondary levels;
- Providing continuing education for teaching professionals seeking to satisfy certification requirements;
- Preparing students for music studies at the graduate level;
- Providing all undergraduates the opportunity to experience music through performance and academic study;
