Detailed Profile

Dr. Dipankar Jana is a faculty member in the Department of Geography at Netaji Mahavidyalaya, Arambagh, Hooghly, West Bengal, where he has been serving as a State Aided College Teacher (SACT) since August 2006. He holds a B.A. (Honours) in Geography from Netaji Mahavidyalaya, an M.A. in Geography from CSJM University, Kanpur, and a Ph.D. in Geography from YBN University, Ranchi, awarded in 2023.

His academic interests and areas of specialization include Population Geography, Urban Geography, and Remote Sensing & GIS. His teaching experience encompasses a broad range of geographical subjects, including Geotectonics, Geomorphology, Climatology, Remote Sensing & GIS, Research Methodology and Field Work, Cartograms and Thematic Mapping, Disaster Management, Human Geography, Environmental Geography, and Regional Planning and Development.

Dr. Jana has participated in academic workshops, seminars, and faculty development activities, with particular engagement in themes related to rainwater harvesting, urban quality of life, urbanization, population growth, and gender gaps in literacy.

His research publications include studies on “City Growth and Expansion of Patna” and “Gender Gap in Literacy in Patna District,” published in Vidyawarta in 2022.
